That’s right! I don’t mean I wanna zoom zoom zoom. I wanna zum zum zum…as in Zumba!!
I went to my first ever Zumba class this morning and it was the most fun I have had during a class! I have been dying to try Zumba, but all the classes are either at 10am or 5:30pm which just doesn’t work with my work schedule. They finally added a Sunday morning class! This means I no longer have a sleep in day, but I don’t even care.
If you’ve never been to Zumba, get your butt to a class soon. It is high energy and is basically a cross between a hip hop and cultural dance class. There’s a lot of booty shakin’ and jumpin’ going on. I really need to practice my booty and boobie shakin’. Let’s just say, I can’t really “shake it like a Polaroid picture”, but I had fun trying. I don’t have much junk in my trunk, so I wasn’t that surprised at my lack of booty shakin’ abilily. The teacher was (of course) fantastic, but everyone just did what they could do and there was a lot of laughing.
I cannot wait until next Sunday. I have been on a Zumba high since I came home. An hour flew by like it was nothing. Zumba, where have you been all my life?
Have you Zumba’d? What did you think? Have you ever felt this way after a new workout experience?
Next up on my clipboard of fun is hot power yoga for an hour and then it’s time to make some 7-layer dip and get ready to “watch” the Superbowl. I’m in it for the commercials. No, wait. I’m in it for the food.

I have to say OMG haha…I did Zumba this past Wednesday. I had such a great time. The room was packed and I had a hard time seeing all of the moves, but I was with two friends and we kind of just did our own moves when we couldn’t follow the exact steps. I LOVED it. There was this one move where we had to raise our arms left, right, left left (a double) and I felt like I was on Jersey Shore fist pumping! I probably spent most of the class looking like a bunny rabbit bouncing around, but it was a wicked fun time!

ha ha! I felt that way too. Luckily, I got a spot close to the front. I felt like the whitest white person there ever was. I don’t know what has happened to my rhythm. I just pretended that I was on SYTYCD and that I was good.

Hey Angela – I wanted to ask you, did you feel like it gave you a good workout? I’ve always wanted to try it, but then I feel like I should use my cardio time on something that will break a serious sweat, like spinning. Anyway, curious to hear what level of cardio workout it was for you – light, moderate or heavy……Or, if it’s something you do in addition to your regular cardio routine, like pilates or yoga (for me).

I thought it gave me a moderate workout. My heart was pumpin’ the whole time. The thing about it is that it feels easy because you are having such a good time. It is something that I am doing in addition to everything else. I went to hot yoga that day too. I plan on going to Zumba again this Sunday.
