Tis’ the Season…

…for my first give-away!! That’s right, I’ve got some goods to give you so that you can pamper yourself or someone you like this holiday season.

I use to sell Arbonne products on the side. Arbonne is kind of the same as Mary Kay. I gave it a try when I was living down in San Diego because I loved their products and that they were vegan, hypoallergenic, and water (instead of oil) based so they absorb into the skin better. I was also hating my job at the time and was getting ready to move to CT, so I thought it would be a little income coming in when I was “in transition”. I actually did make a few bucks!

Anyways, one lucky person will win the items pictured below.

Here is what the loot is:

  • Hand Cream (great for those winter dry hands)
  • Herbal Muscle Massage (relive your minor aches and pains from exercising off those cookies)
  • Lip Gloss (to shine your pucker up for all those holiday parties)
  • SPF 30 Lip Balm (moisturize while you protect yourself from the suns harmful rays)
  • Pampermint Foot Scrub and Foot Cream (your dogs will smell great and feel relieved after a day of holiday shopping)
  • Gold Carrying Case

So how can you win this fabulous loot? Easy…there are two ways! If you do both, you will be entered twice to win.

just leave me a comment telling me how you relax during the holidays

or

post on your blog about this give-away and leave me a comment letting me know!

I’ll be using a random number generator to pick the winner and the contest ends on Monday, December 7th. Good luck!!

Tis’ also the season for lots of parties and eating! How do you plan to stay on track? As far as eating, I have been doing pretty good so far, but I have to admit that I have regressed a bit with my positive body image thinking and have been really negative about myself lately. I think a lot of it is due to not being able to run. The other part of it is admitting that I have a disordered way of thinking about myself and really need to confront it head on. It’s scary admitting that you have a problem, but I think I am ready to do it. I’m tired of having my thoughts ruin my self-esteem and my overall attitude. I plan on writing a longer post on this later when I have more time…back to the fun stuff…the parties!!

This month Self Magazine wrote an article about Eating, Drinking, and staying Slim! Sounds great doesn’t it! Their main tip is to make bite size healthier versions of your fave’s so that you can have a taste and not feel deprived. If you are planning a party this is a great idea and they have some awesome recipes for mac & cheese mini’s, quiche in prosciutto cups, and pumpkin pie cupcakes.

Here are some other tips that I have read in magazines before and what I try to do at parties:

  • Don’t stand near the food table, mingle around the room!
  • Stick with wine instead of fancy cocktails that pack a calorie punch!
  • Have a snack before the party so you don’t arrive ravished and ready to devour anything in site
  • Load up on the veggie platter, but not on the ranch or other dipping sauces!
  • Don’t sample everything, choose a few of your favorites and then step away. When you have a lot of different tastes and flavors you tend to eat more
  • Save yourself for the desserts that you really love…are those store bought cookies really worth it??

So there you have it…my first give-away and some tips for staying healthy over the next month!

  • I relax during the holidays by keeping some things “routine” – like working out. I’ve worked out everyday since high school (except the 2 days after my daughter was born!) It makes my date feel right.
I also read right before going to sleep – no matter how late I get in.
I sit down and read the mail – instead of stacking it to have a mountain to race through some time.
Little things like that keep me from becoming frantic and rushed – so keeps me relaxed.

  • I like to relax during the holidays by just letting things go. Drinking copious amounts of wine, eating way too much turkey and passing out from a tryptophan nap. I know, I know, it’s all about portion control and moderation during the holidays. But this only comes once a year so I’m going to enjoy it (and hit the treadmill hard the following week!).

  • Angela,

Love the blog. The contest was a nice bonus. Wishing you and the hubby all the best this holiday season.

  • I posted your link on my twitter page and will post it on my fb page too!

Oh yeah, I plan to relax this holiday season by getting the rest I need and deserve.

  • Relax let me see, my frig leaked and ruined all my hardwood floor which has been torn up for a month, my husbands mom got rushed to the hospital in NE and we had to spend $900 to get him back there last minute and she didn’t have a heart attack just dehydrated, my daughter is suppose to move out of her place by Dec. 5th and of course had waited and still doesn’t have a place and isn’t packed, my husband is nagging me about spending to much at Christmas (as usual) so I’m gave him Christmas this year and now he freakin’ out, I’m producing the annual bridal show for Jan and the vendors are crazy! Oh yeah, I’m doing my annual ornament exchange/buffett at The Ridge Country Club and they keep changing the date on me, my pants are so tight it is cutting off my circulation and making my heart flutter……I think I really need to win something!

  • Wish I could relax more during the holidays but I have to say that truly enjoy making the goodies that I only make a Christmas. I leave my jammies on, put on a favorite CD and start my candy making or cookie baking. I love the feel of the whole thing! It’s even better if it is cool and blustery outside. Of course, sampling the stuff makes me feel like a fat blob but I still love it. Then after the whole mess is cleaned up, I am normally exhausted but when I sit down I feel great. A bubble bath, a nice glass of wine and some gossipy magazine complete the day. The holiday season is really here!

  • The most relaxing things I do around the Holiday are number 1 Decorate the tree, not only does it relax me but really gets me in the mood for the Holiday spirit. Next i always fine time to bake some of my favorite goodies for my friends and family, life is so hectic that i don’t get to do this often enough and usually weights on my mind. Lastly, I find some herbal tea add a peppermint stick, light some bees wax candels and take a relaxing bath while sipping some tea and listening to my favorite holiday music.

I just love this time of the year and It is the one time i give myself the opportunity to relax.

  • I relax during the holidays by giving myself a real break from the daily grind. And I hit the booze. Hard.

  • Hey Angela,
It was great to see you and Jeremy!
My way to relax during the holidays is to walk, walk, walk! I don’t even listen to my ipod… I walk every single day… minimum 2 miles and max 6… i also take pilates and yoga classes… but walking really relaxes me more than anything…. by myself especially.. i take my 3 lb. weights and walk, walk, walk! Happy holidays sweetie!
    Love,
    Toni
